In 1997 I lived in Vermont and was working in a factory, going to college for business, and studying real estate. I hated my job in the factory because we all made the same income, regardless how hard we worked. If I did twice the work as the guy standing next to me, I still made the same pay. I’ve also always loved working with people, which working in a factory didn’t really provide.
Through my wife I met Mr. Harry Patten, who offered me a job opportunity working for Hunter Company of West Virginia. I didn’t really know what to expect, but being the only one in my family to even graduate high school, I was willing to move and take a chance for more success in my career. I didn’t know it at the time, but that job offer would prove to be the greatest opportunity of my life. I immediately packed my bags and moved to West Virginia and jumped in with both feet. I was finally in a career where I was being paid based on my own personal performance, not on the amount of time I’ve worked at my job.
I’ve been working for Hunter Company now for almost 11 years and feel very fortunate every day. Being a hard worker all of my life, I’ve made more money than I ever imagined possible, but the greatest reward is having a job I absolutely love to do. When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like a job. Every day there is a new challenge to keep it exciting.
I also appreciate the opportunity for advancement at this company. When I started I was told the sky was the limit. That was exactly right. I’ve exceeded many personal and professional goals, and was recently promoted to Project Manager on the largest project in my region. With a project of over 6,000 acres, it constantly challenges my abilities and experience. That’s what I love because it keeps it exciting and new!
I intend to spend the rest of my life in this business, and I’m setting my sites on moving up the next step of the ladder. What an amazing opportunity! Thank you Hunter Wilson and Harry Patten for the greatest opportunity of my life! |
